LIFESTYLE | New Year New Hobby Ideas
Hey Guys!
We made it! It’s a new year and new beginnings! As we step into the new year why not pick up a new hobby. Let’s face the facts realistically things won’t get back to normal anytime soon … so why not start a new hobby to pass the time.
“Hobbies are for good for relaxation, entertainment, learning or self-discovery.”
Whether you’re trying to entertain yourself or looking for a new side hustle start with a hobby and here’s why:
Life can get boring. A quick way to fix this is by experiencing something new … like a hobby. (see what I did there ;)
Relaxation and Mindlessness. We promote productivity and often times we neglect the power of decompression. Finding the right hobbies can help take your mind off things, relax and reduce stress. Your medical bill will thank you later.
Hobbies are a Good Way to Test Out Your Side Hustle. You’re more likely to succeed at your side hustle if you enjoy it. So why not look at a hobby as a low risk business venture. If you like the hobby move on to the next step and if not that’s okay too … it’s just a damn hobby anyways.
6 HOBBIES IDEAS FOR 2021
1. Candle Making : Last year I bought so many candles mostly because I’m working from home and can finally enjoy the sweet aroma throughout my apartment. Candle making is going to be my personal new hobby this year. I want to learn how to make smelly dang good home decor designer candles.
2. Cooking /Baking: Why not learn how to cook right now? Sadly we’re not able to go to restaurants as much as we did before so why not learn how to cook or bake your favorite dishes so you won’t have to worry about ordering out. It’s a fun way to discover new tastes and a great way to decompress. Plus it’s a TOTAL MONEY SAVER. Especially, if you’re trying to pay down debt or save for a casa. Here are some cool people to follow for recipe ideas.
@theshellfishcook - for southeast asian & seafood lovers.
@mamasoulbakes - to learn how to make designer cakes.
@yakitoriguy - to learn about Japanese yakitori.
3. Playing the Recorder: This one cracks me up because I’ve tried it a few times. Instruments are expensive especially if you’re not 100% sure that you’re committed to learning. Recorders are inexpensive, easy to learn and fun to play. You should try it out. It might annoy the heck out of your boyfriend but hey it’s kind of funny. Plus, it could be your ultimate party trick once we can party again.
4. Photography: This is a more expensive hobby but there’s 2 ways you can go about this. 1) Use your iPhone and discover photography angles or 2) purchase a camera and practice. Honestly, this hobby can turn into an investment since many businesses are digital now. You can sell your photos to brands and big companies. Plus, this is a great way to express your creativity.
5. Blogging: I’m bias! Of course I had to put this on! I’ve started blogging in August 2019. There’s so much flexibility in unleashing your creativity in this space. You can create through writing, photographs, web/graphic design and get your ideas out. It’s fun to learn and you can develop a bunch of new useful skills along the way.
6. Flower Arranging & Plants: This has become one of my favorite mindless past times. I go to Trader Joe’s, spend $20, create 3-4 bouquets and arrange them around my apartment. It’s relaxing plus it makes for the perfect home decor. Adding live colorful plants to your home definitely boosts up the positive energy. If you type in Trader Joe’s Flower Arrangement on Pinterest you can find a bunch of ideas.
