BEAUTY | How to Create a Skincare Budget
Hi Guys!
When I first started my skincare routine I didn’t know where I should spend my most of my money. If my budget was $100 should I spend $40 on toner or moisturizer? These were the questions I had so I decided to use the 20,40,40 Rule. This is silly but this prevents me from overspending (pre-blogging). Here’s a simple skincare budget guide.
SKINCARE BUDGET GUIDE
20% Cleanser & Toners
This is where I spend the least amount of money because with cleansers you typically use for less than 2 minutes and wash it off. It doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of $$ on something you’re going to wash off fast. As for toners you can find really GOOD toners for cheap (Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner and Trade Joe’s Rose Water).
40% Moisturizer
This is where I spend most of my $$$ because it’s the most important product that you will use a lot. On top it the daily use using the right moisturizer can really change your skin!
40% Specialized Products (Serums, Mask, Oils etc.)
Specialized products are expensive. Depending on the season i’ll pick a product for my skin concerns and purchase accordingly. You have to be careful with this portion of the budget because it’s real easier to over spend. (i.e. buying serums, face oils, multiple mask for the same skin concerns can be a waste for money). Typically, I’m pretty flexible with this rule for example if I’m only spending 5% on cleaners & toners then I will either save the extra cash or use it in this category. Also, this is just a great guide for not overspending - it may vary depending on your budget :)
P.S HOPE THIS HELPS WITH YOUR SKINCARE BUDGETING!
