The Venue! Yes - weddings are EXPENSIVE and the bulk you’ll be spending on is for the Venue,Food and Drinks. When it comes to picking a venue here’s my advice:

Decide what is important to YOU! Everyone is different so what’s important is different. Whether you value aesthetics, food, number of guest or budget - DO WHAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU!
Compromise. Unless you have LOTS of money you’ll most likely have to compromise.
Consider photos. Try to get a venue that doesn’t required a lot of extra decoration. Decor can add up and get pricey!
Consider Logistics. We wanted a place walkable to the beach and also a place where we could walk and bar hopping after. The venue was close to hotels, restaurants, and shopping for our out of town guest. Picking the right location can eliminate lots of headaches.

We ended up picking The Casino in San Clemente because it was the PERFECT venue for us!

HERE’S WHY WE PICKED THIS VENUE:

The location. It was close by the beach which is my favorite place for photos.
The space was big enough for all our guest. We had a guest list of 150 (within our budget) but it can fit up to 299 guest.
I love the fact that we could rent the entire venue. There were different locations for each part of the wedding ceremony both INDOOR and OUTDOOR! (in case it rains).Plus there’s plenty of free parking.
It includes A LOT of stuff (i.e chairs for ceremony, chairs for reception, tables for cocktail hour, tables for reception etc.)
It was a classic historic location.
It was available in May - the added bonus is that flowers bloom during this time which means you spend LESS ON DECOR!
Good enough for photos.
It was within our budget!
